Telecom

The telecom sector offers communication and data services, with the infrastructure branch focusing on installing/laying cables. When laying fiber optic cables, the process includes planning and designing networks, digging trenches, laying and splicing fiber optics, and installing distribution and switch cabinets. This is followed by thorough testing and quality control. Fiber optic cables provide fast and reliable connections and require precise installation to avoid damage. The connection to end users provides access to fast internet and data services, crucial for modern communications and data transfer.

Energy

The energy sector focuses on the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. Cable laying plays a crucial role within the infrastructure branch. The process includes planning and designing electricity networks, digging trenches, laying high-voltage and low-voltage cables, and installing distribution and control cabinets. Accurate installation and insulation of cables are essential to prevent malfunctions and safety hazards. After installation, strict testing and quality control follows. These cables provide reliable electricity supply to households and businesses, essential for modern society and industrial activities.

Trenchless techniques

Trenchless techniques, also known as "trenchless technology," are methods for installing, maintaining, or replacing underground infrastructure such as cables, pipelines, and sewers, without the need for extensive excavation work. Instead of digging trenches along the entire length of the project, specialized equipment is used to, for example, bore horizontally, pull through pipes, or renovate existing pipelines.

In the Netherlands, trenchless techniques are widely used in urban areas and environments where open excavation work would be disruptive or impossible. These methods reduce the impact on the environment, such as traffic disruptions and surface damage, and contribute to more efficient and sustainable work. Examples of trenchless techniques include directional drilling, microtunneling, and relining (inserting a new inner layer into existing pipelines).
